The ‘Snowland’ Series

Snow mountains, with their vastness and stillness, have long embodied the boundless spirit of heaven and earth. Snow-covered peaks and drifting cold clouds reflect both the ever-changing rhythms of nature and humanity’s enduring pursuit of purity and eternity. Throughout history, scholars and painters have often turned to snow mountains as a spiritual landscape — a symbol of solitude, transcendence, and inner contemplation.

This series employs layered ink textures to depict the shifting surfaces and quiet power of snow-covered ranges. Combining the formats of hanging scrolls and tea scrolls, the works seek a balance between monumental presence and ethereal stillness. Variations of ink density reveal both the sharp strength of icy cliffs and the soft movement of clouds and snow, creating a contemplative atmosphere of distance and silence.

Calligraphy and inscriptions are interwoven throughout the compositions, ranging from the restrained force of clerical script to the refined delicacy of small regular script, adding a subtle literary spirit to the landscapes. Through these works, the viewer is invited into an imagined alpine realm — a space for stillness, reflection, and a renewed awareness of both nature’s immensity and the clarity of the inner self.
